Welcome to fishbro ("we," "us," or "our"). fishbro is operated as a sole proprietorship. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use our mobile application and website at fishbroai.com (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
Account Data
When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and profile image. If you sign up with email and password, we store a securely hashed version of your password.
Google OAuth Data
If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile image from Google. We also store OAuth tokens to maintain your authenticated session.
Phone Number
If you opt in to SMS verification, we collect your phone number solely for the purpose of sending one-time passcode (OTP) verification codes.
Catch Data
When you log catches, we collect photos, GPS coordinates, species identification, weight, and length. Photos may be processed by third-party AI services for species identification.
Crew & Membership Data
We store information about crews you create or join, including your membership roles and associations with other users.
Session Data
We automatically collect your IP address and user agent string when you access the Service. This information is used to maintain your session and for security purposes.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Service
- Authenticate your identity and manage your account
- Send one-time passcode (OTP) verification codes via SMS
- Process and identify fish species from your catch photos using AI
- Store and display your catch records, statistics, and history
- Facilitate crew memberships and social features
- Improve and personalize your experience
- Protect against fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data with the following third-party service providers only as necessary to operate the Service:
Google (OAuth Authentication)
If you choose to sign in with Google, your authentication data is processed through Google's OAuth service. Google's privacy policy governs their handling of your data.
OpenAI (Fish Photo Identification)
When you upload a catch photo for species identification, the image may be sent to OpenAI's API for processing. OpenAI's data usage policies govern their handling of this data.
Twilio (SMS OTP Verification)
If you opt in to SMS verification, your phone number and OTP messages are transmitted through Twilio. Twilio's privacy policy governs their handling of your data.
5. SMS/Text Messaging
fishbro uses SMS text messaging solely for sending one-time passcode (OTP) verification codes to authenticate your account. We send one (1) text message per authentication attempt. We do not use SMS for marketing or promotional purposes.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
All other categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
You can opt out of SMS messages at any time by replying "STOP" to any message you receive from us. After opting out, you will no longer receive SMS verification codes and may need to use an alternative authentication method.

6. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored on servers located in the United States. We implement industry-standard security measures, including encryption in transit and at rest, to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your data, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Data Retention & Deletion
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time through the app settings.
When you delete your account, all of your personal data — including your profile, catch records, photos, crew memberships, and session data — will be permanently removed from our systems. This action is irreversible.
8. Children's Privacy
The Service is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to promptly delete that information. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@fishbro.com.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will revise the "Effective Date" at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you via the app or email. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
